There Are Many Options to Suit Your Life Style and Goals...

There are a variety of options to choose from in your pursuit of a marketable education. To connect your future career to the type of education you pursue, you should consult two government publications that are freely available online.

Each year, the U.S. government releases two publication that can help you to determine which educational choice is right for you. The Dictionary of Occupational Titles provides a listing and description of each job that has been documented by the U.S. government. A second government publication, Occupational Outlook Handbook provides data on future trends for various fields of employment.

Types of Schools:

Colleges and Universities offer a variety of options for fields of study. In addition to on-campus programs, many established colleges now offer classes online. Bachelors, masters and doctorate degrees are requisite to some high paying careers. College work done to complete a 2-year associates degree can often be transferred to a 4-year program. Many colleges and universities will consider work experience and apply it as credits toward the completion of your degree. Call the admissions office of the college you are interested in attending to find out if this time saving option is available.

Career Schools provide specialized training in fields as varied as culinary arts, electronics, automotive repair and massage therapy. Career school programs may take one or two years to complete. However, there are many programs in which training my be completed in as little as six months. Most trade schools offer job placement services upon completion of training or certification.

Community Colleges also offer programs geared toward specific careers, with a couple of added advantages. Coursework completed at community college may typically be transfered to a four year college or university. Students of community colleges may also complete an Associates Degree within two years.

Earning Your Degree Online is one of the newest and most accessible options for working adults. Many schools, including top universities allow students to enroll and complete a certificate or degree online.
